A lifting eye is a heavy-duty hardware component used for secure overhead lifting and rigging jobsite equipment and machinery.
The main components of a crane lifting eye include the eye (where the lifting accessory is attached), the threaded shank (the part that is screwed into a drilled hole in the equipment), and the base (the part that is bolted directly onto the load).
This kit includes the bolts and nuts required to attach each lifting eye and its plate to the main piece of equipment, specifically M10 eye bolts and corresponding lock nuts.
Lifting eye bolts should always be tightened firmly by hand to ensure safe operation. First, ensure threads and surfaces are clean and that the contact surface is flat and perpendicular to the thread axis. Hand-tighten the bolt so that the eye aligns with the pull direction, using washers or shims if needed for alignment.
Using standard tools such as a socket or wrench, bolt the caster plates to the unit. Be sure to install the casters on a stable platform so that the unit remains stationary. We also suggest placing the braked casters on the same side so that you can lock the unit. Installation instructions vary depending on the specific SiteBoss model; consult the unit’s manual for further details.
The Contractor Series Caster Kit has caster wheels that are 5 inches in diameter.
